Madalyn & Riley's School

We are currently attending Classical Conversations every Wednesday from 9:00-1:00. This is our second year at "CC" and the girls are making some great friends and I'm encouraged every week by fellow homeschooling families. I love it because we fit right in with our full size van and large family. Of course here our family size is "normal". If you would like to find out more about CC check out the link below www.classicalconversations.com Their motto is to Know God and to Make Him Known. We have been really happy using the Classical Model of Education and seems to fit into our family really well. Every week we study new Grammar 1)Geography 2) Latin 3) A History Sentence 4) Science 5) Fine Arts 6)Math 7)Timeline 8) English. They also are memorizing Exodus 1-17 I believe in both English and Latin. Last year they learned John 1: 1-7 in English and Latin.
It's an amazing program! The class sizes are no more than 8 and there is one tutor and usually 2-3 parent helpers in each room so the kids get a lot of one on one. They learn using music, hand motions and hands on activities.
At 12:00 we are done and we all eat together as families and then the kids have 40 minutes to run around and play with their friends. This has been a great break for us moms and gives us a chance to connect and encourage one another.

For Math we are using Saxon and I really like it. Madalyn is in first grade this year and is in Saxon 2 (second grade) and Riley is in Kindergarten and in Saxon 1  (first grade). To read more about this program go to www.saxonmath.com

The girls are both using Spell to Write and Read by Wanda Senseri for their reading and writing. We are using Cursive First and they are picking up on it really well. You can learn more about that program by googling Spell to Write and Read.
